Desert Moon

When I teach my Striped Pieced Landscape class I usually create my sample piece from my head, but I came across this postcard bought on a holiday in France years ago (pre teaching workshop days) and I could see what a great  striped piece it would make.

This is one of my samples completed.

Here is another. Note the addition of a bit of hand stitching in this one. Was that my idea?
Sadly not! I copied it from one of the ladies at the workshop I taught in Reading a couple of weeks ago.

This is her piece. Isn't it great?
That is why I like teaching this class, because I come away with new ideas too :D

Here is a close up of the stitching.
Why do I only see those loose threads once I have uploaded a photo?!!!

  1. Love the effect the different stitches and directions to give the piece movement.

  2. The colours in your pieces above depict the desert beautifully, sandy, purples and rose. Three of my favourite colours.
